Foot and Ankle Injections

At Care Podiatry, we offer foot and ankle injections as an effective option for managing pain and inflammation. These targeted treatments deliver medication directly to the affected area, helping to provide faster relief and improved function. Injections may be recommended for conditions such as arthritis, tendonitis, or nerve-related pain when other treatments have not provided enough relief. Our team carefully evaluates your condition to determine if this approach is right for you, with the goal of reducing discomfort and helping you move more comfortably in your daily activities.

What are Foot and Ankle Injections?

Foot and ankle injections are simple procedures that involve placing medicine directly into a painful joint or area of soft tissue. The medicine may include a local anaesthetic (to temporarily numb the area) and a corticosteroid (to reduce swelling and inflammation). These injections can help identify the source of pain and provide instant relief. They are often recommended when other treatments have not improved the symptoms.

There are two main purposes of injection therapy –

  • Diagnostic: A temporary numbing agent that confirms the exact source of pain
  • Therapeutic: Corticosteroids reduce inflammation and often relieve pain for weeks to months. It helps patients return to activity.

The procedure is quick and performed in the clinic. The area is thoroughly cleaned, and the injection is given using a needle. Most patients describe only mild discomfort. They are advised to rest the foot for 1-2 days afterwards and then return to normal activities. At Care Podiatry, injections are used as a part of the treatment plan, not as a standalone solution. We aim to reduce pain, improve mobility, and support long-term recovery so you can return to daily activities with confidence.
