Foot and ankle injuries are painful and interfere with everyday activities. We at Care Podiatry have expert diagnosis, individualized treatment, and empathetic care to heal you quickly and safely.
If you have been diagnosed with a stress fracture, or a sprained ankle, or chronic pain, we are here to guide you to relief.
Ankle Sprains
Ankle sprains are very common injuries, especially in people who are physically active. They happen when the ankle twists too far inward or outward, stretching or tearing the ligament that supports the joint. Most sprains can affect the ligaments on the outside of the ankle, especially the anterior talofibular ligament. It is the weakest and most commonly injured. More serious sprains can also include nearby ligaments. Injuries to the inside of the ankle or “high ankle sprains” are less common but usually more serious and take even longer to heal. These injuries can cause pain, swelling, and a feeling that the ankle is unstable.
Some people are more likely to get ankle sprains due to factors such as poor balance, previous ankle injuries, loose ligaments, or poor leg alignment. Some external factors also play a major role, such as not warming up, wearing the wrong shoes, playing high-risk sports, or being on uneven ground.
Ankle Fractures
Ankle fractures are common injuries that can result from twisting, direct impact, or crushing injuries. Even a simple fall, trip, or sports activity can twist the ankle enough to break a bone.
More serious injuries can occur from falling from a height, where the bones of the lower leg are forced down onto the ankle. Crush injuries can happen in car accidents or when something heavy falls on the ankle.
The severity of the fracture can depend on how strong the force is. The higher-impact injuries can cause more damage to both the bones and the surrounding soft tissues.

The guys at the urgent care did not do a thorough exam they just listened to the symptoms and said she had shin splints.
